Startup Weekend @ Georgetown October 2015

An experience you’ll never forget. Think the 48-Hour Film Fest for techies, marketers & entrepreneurs. Work with a team to convert an idea into an operating business in 54 hours.

What is Georgetown Startup Weekend?

Startup Weekend is where you can make it, together with like-minded people. Working together with teams, mentors and fellow entrepreneurs to find your business model, idea validation and prototyping in 54 hours, you are not only learning to build a startup, but also get yourself ready to launch your products.

Startup Weekends are weekend-long, hands-on experiences where entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs can find out if startup ideas are viable. On average, half of Startup Weekend’s attendees have technical or design backgrounds, the other half have business backgrounds.Beginning with open mic pitches on Friday, attendees bring their best ideas and inspire others to join their team. Over Saturday and Sunday teams focus on customer development, validating their ideas, practicing LEAN Startup Methodologies and building a minimal viable product. On Sunday evening teams demo their prototypes and receive valuable feedback from a panel of experts.
Who should attend?

Anyone who wants to learn or loves the process of creating a new product or service and turning it into a business. Attendees include makers, programmers, marketers, designers, builders, entrepreneurs and writers.

Why should I attend?

To become inspired, forge lasting friendships, find co-founders & employees, learn new tools & methodologies, practice new skills and feel a sense of accomplishment.

Participating in Startup Weekend is an intense experience that allows you to grow rapidly and build deep relationships. It’s an experience like none other.

What can I expect?

Propose Your Idea
Build Your Team
Create Your Business Model
Connect with Customers
Build Your Product
Present Your Startup

Steps 3-5 usually happen at the same time by different members of your team. You’ll also be supported by a cadre of coaches who will give you feedback on your progress and answer your questions.
